Sedation Dentistry
Are you among the majority of people who have avoided the dentist due to fear and anxiety? You are not alone. Sedation dentistry can help take the fear and anxiety out of your dental experience. There are a variety of sedation options available.
We offer services which span the full spectrum of anesthesia, from conscious sedation to general anesthesia. Because of the newer anesthetics now available, safety is further enhanced and recovery time is greatly reduced. Our patients are carefully attended to by the anesthesiologist until fully awake, stable, and ready to go home.
Oral Sedation
Oral sedation is simply taking a small pill 30-60 minutes before your dental appointment—nothing could be easier. You will need someone to drive you to and from your appointment, because by the time you arrive at our office you will very relaxed and sleepy.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous Oxide is a commonly used dental sedative that produces a giddiness or euphoria, which is why people frequently call it “laughing gas.” It provides conscious sedation. The patient is capable of rational response to a question or command. Conscious sedation differs from general anesthesia since it does not put the patient totally “to sleep” and involves less risk.
Oral Medication
Some anxious patients may need only a little oral medication the night before to prepare them for their visit the next day. For other patients a combination of sedation methods is needed. Whatever the anxiety level, our dentists will carefully consider the various options for helping you have a more relaxed dental visit.
