Dental Implants

Tooth loss doesn’t have to keep you from having a great smile. Implant dentistry gives patients an attractive replacement option with unrivaled strength, stability, and support. Dental implants are small, metal posts that mimic natural tooth roots. Our periodontist surgically places the implants beneath your gums. In the next phase of treatment, the dentist attaches individual crowns or prosthetic devices, such as dentures or bridges, to the implants.

Are Implants for Me?
Nearly everyone is a candidate for implants. You need sufficient gum tissue and bone structure for successful results. Our doctors can perform an assessment to determine the best treatment plan for you. For patients with low bone density, we may suggest pre-placement therapies or alternative procedures, such as mini dental implants.

How Do Implants Work?
Dental implants are designed to look, function, and feel like natural teeth. After placement, the jawbone fuses to the implants in a 3 to 6 month process known as osseointegration. Once the osseointegration occurs, the dentist can attach a specially modified replacement tooth to the implant post. Over time, the implant-bone bond becomes stronger, and as long as you clean the implant and visit us regularly, the implant(s) should last a lifetime.
